It is made of durable plastic and has a built-in battery tester that will test every type of battery the set holds.The battery tester can be a little clumsy to use and I think it could have been better implemented as a sort of 'vice' where you place the battery on its side and push the tester end up to the bottom of the battery. Instead, this has an L-shaped arm that lifts up and you have to carefully place the battery between the contact on the bottom of the device and the top of the arm. This because more frustrating when you're using C and D sized batteries. It also has a compartment that pulls out and holds small watch batteries. I also wish there were a better way to present the rack. You can either lay it flat or attach it to a wall. Laying it flat consumes a lot of space, but I can't attach this to a wall in my apartment or at my office, so there's no other choice. Perhaps if they could... You can detach the tester and carry it around and dig in drawers and all the places you throw your batteries.
