These are the new version Eneloop which are rated for 1500 charge cycles - the number on the battery is HR-3UTGA which indicates that it is the new version. SANYO's next-generation nickel metal hydride battery 'eneloop'. Batteries have a property to release the stored energy in small amounts (this phenomenon is called 'self-discharge'). This property is particularly noticeable in rechargeable batteries such as Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries etc. as compared to dry cell batteries, hence disabling rechargeable batteries from becoming batteries that 'customers can use immediately after purchase'. I'm happy with just 500X. The not so good: 1) 2000 mAh. That's not enough juice to provide stamina for power hungry devices. Background: For over 4yrs now, I've been using the 'made in Japan', Low Self Discharge (LSD) AA & AAA rechargeable batteries from Sanyo called Eneloop & Eneloop 1500. I use them with all the remote controls & electronic devices / gadgets that I have. I have over a dozen pairs of the Sanyo Eneloop batteries & I like to keep them organized. I have them all marked / labeled in pairs so that I don't mix the batteries when I'm charging them. The plain white color of the Sanyo Eneloop is a plus point here. What I didn't expect is that these are the new model of Eneloops rated at 1500 recharge cycles instead of the previous 1000. The two free battery holders are mentioned in the "Technical Details" section of the webpage but nothing is said about the batteries being the new improved (and more expensive) version. The picture on the webpage shows the older type as well so when I ordered I was convinced I was ordering the older type. All my experience with Eneloops is with the 1000-cycle type. They are long-lasting and trouble free. They last really long in devices right out of their packaging without being charged. I deliberately buy the 1000-cycle type because they are lower priced than the newer version and because they are already super batteries so why pay a premium for new and improved?
